3 resume prompts 📄

From @techyai_cj. Stop editing one resume over and over. Build a master file once, then cut it down for each job. Works in Claude or ChatGPT. The third one stings and it is the one that works.

01 · Build the master

one file with everything, never sent to anyone
paste your current resume first, then this

Interview me about my work history. One question at a time. For each job ask what I actually did, what changed because I was there, and any number I can attach to it. Keep going until you have at least 3 real accomplishments per role, then write it all into one long master resume. Don't trim anything, this version is for me, not for employers.

It will be too long and kind of ugly. That is correct. This is your source of truth, not your application.

02 · Cut it down per job

run this for every single application
paste the job posting and your master resume, then this

Here's my master resume and a job posting. Pick only the experience that matters for this role and cut the rest. Use the exact words the posting uses for skills and tools, because software filters this before a person reads it. Rewrite every bullet to lead with the result instead of the task. One page. Then tell me the biggest gap between me and this job so I know what they'll ask me about.

That last part matters. Knowing your weakest spot before the interview is worth as much as the resume itself.

03 · The one everybody skips

run it on the version you were about to send
the reality check

What would a recruiter reject me for in the first 10 seconds? Be blunt. Then rewrite the top third to fix it.

This one is uncomfortable on purpose. A recruiter spends about ten seconds on the top third of your page and decides from there. You may as well know what they decided.
