AI tools that earn their keep in a small business 🔧

From @techyai_cj. I'm a software developer and this is the honest list, not the sponsored one. Five tools, what each one is actually for, and the rule that makes any of them work: start with one tool on one boring job.

The five

in the order I'd explain them to a friend
1. Claude the front desk brain
Quotes written, customer replies handled, the email you've been avoiding answered in your tone. Start at claude.ai — and set it up properly with my five-minute setup guide.
2. Claude Cowork works the files, not just the chat
Hand it the folder: invoices, quotes, the filing you never get to. It works across your files and tools and hands back finished work for review. It's Anthropic's own product — claude.com/product/cowork.
3. Lovable your website from one paragraph
Describe the business in a paragraph and it builds the site — live the same day. I've watched it do it. lovable.dev.
4. make.com the quiet one that saves the most hours
Wires your apps together so the follow-ups send themselves: form comes in, invoice goes out, reminder fires, nobody touched anything. make.com.
5. ElevenLabs voiceovers without a studio
A clean voiceover for your ads without recording ten takes or renting a booth. Type the script, pick a voice. elevenlabs.io.

What to set up first

the part that actually decides whether this works

1. Pick your most boring recurring job. Not the most impressive one — the one you keep putting off. Usually it's replying to the same kind of email or chasing the same kind of follow-up.

2. Match ONE tool to that job. Email and quotes → Claude. A folder of filing → Cowork. No website or an embarrassing one → Lovable. Follow-ups falling through the cracks → make.com. Ads you keep not recording → ElevenLabs.

3. Run it on real work the same day. Ten minutes on an actual customer email beats an hour of playing with demos.

4. Only add tool number two after tool number one has quietly saved you an hour. That's the whole trick.

If the boring job is email, my inbox guide goes deeper. If it's "we have no website", start with Lovable tonight.

I'm a software developer and I post what I actually run.
